Discover the best way you or your child learn and identify strengths and weaknesses to create a better opportunity for academic, behavioral, and social success.
When you or your child are not performing their best in school (often becoming frustrated with the work or with others, feeling anxious, or having social difficulties), a psychoeducational evaluation will help you learn about your or your child’s personal strengths and areas of growth, and provide the clarity, recommendations, and the guidance that you deserve.
As a parent, watching your child struggle can be overwhelming. It can be difficult to understand why they are not performing to their potential when you know they can succeed.
If you are an individual with learning, attention, or mood difficulties, you may feel defeated or begin to lose confidence in your abilities without knowing what to do.
Unfortunately, your children’s behavior might be misinterpreted by others as defiant or disobedient when they may be dealing with a learning disability or other underlying factors.
Psychological and neuroeducational evaluations are comprehensive assessments designed to help identify neurodevelopmental and other factors that may be impacting a child, adolescent, or adult’s success and overall well-being.
Our evaluations assess components related to learning, cognition, academics, emotions, and behavior. In addition to providing a diagnosis if appropriate, we provide specific recommendations that can aid in proper intervention and strategies and can be used to help an individual reach their full potential, improve their overall well-being, and succeed.
How do neuroeducational evaluations differ from standard psychoeducational testing?
We integrate the traditional psychoeducational and add neuropsychological components into the testing process with the goal of identifying any educational and/or neuropsychological factors that may adversely impact learning. A neuroeducational assessment integrates various neuropsychological tests to investigate which neurological skills are affecting the educational process. Hence, the evaluation links brain functioning and learning behavior, making it a more effective and comprehensive approach to understanding and mitigating the challenges specific to each individual.
Evaluations provide a comprehensive understanding of personal strengths, weaknesses, and overall educational and behavioral functioning.
Cognitive and Academic Skills
We often assess language skills and development to examine the child’s language abilities, both expressive (speaking) and receptive (listening and understanding).
This information can then guide appropriate interventions and support to help you reach your full potential.
Our evaluations provide the tools that children and parents, along with the providers involved in their care, may need to better understand the individual.
Psychoeducational testing provides a comprehensive understanding of the neurodevelopmental factors that impact educational success (from the way the brain functions to the habits, emotions, behavior, and psychology that come together to allow the learning process to take place), all of which is essential for identifying the root causes of learning difficulties and personal strengths.
Our testing psychologists collaborate with others involved in the patient’s care (parents, teachers, and therapists, if applicable) to develop recommendations that will be helpful to the individual (such as accommodations for school or therapeutic treatment modalities).
A detailed report is provided that displays the individual’s cognitive, academic, emotional, and/or behavioral strengths and weaknesses, along with other neurodevelopmental factors that may be impacting their success.
We also provide effective reading programs such as Lindamood-Bell which are designed to improve individuals' reading skills, ultimately improving their proficiency.
These programs are especially beneficial for individuals diagnosed with reading disorders like dyslexia or math disorders. Learn more about our educational intervention services here.
